A diverse collection of stories & other 'odds & ends'...

Merry Christmas!

This is a story about some Christmas presents I tried to give to Luke, a homeless boy, but couldn't at first, until I persevered & found him in Foster Care!

Happy Birthday!

This is a story about some books I tried to donate to my great-nephew, Tyler's Middle School (out-of-state), but were all rejected ultimately when they were returned-to-sender, and I was devastated, until I persevered & found another local school that took my book donations!

“I never had a birthday party.”

Sad statement from a brilliant man with a latent propensity for music, who also had a slight limp that kept him out of the rank & file during WWII. Otherwise, a good-looking man with movie-star features & a technically sharp mind, which he put to good use as a dedicated impresario in the phantastic field of Music, as a virtuoso conductor, a renowned organ player & resourceful founder of the globally famous Paulist Choristers. Father Finn aka Father William Joseph Finn (FF) was an altogether distinctive celebrity on the international stage of choral music & a comprehensive Director, Manager, Administrator of the world-class boys’ choir (of 100+ members of both boys & men). Also, a devoted Catholic priest for more than 60 years, before his unfortunate & disreputable death, while residing with his saintly, caretaker niece in NYC in 1961. Still, nobody knows what happened exactly, except for FF.

Odessa High School

I recently visited Odessa High School & found my (1965) graduation picture on the wall, together with Principal, Jaime Nelson as my gracious tour-guide. I scouted nearby graduation pictures, to find familiar faces, with good or bad vocal reviews about their previous intents toward me & may have said aloud, why I never knew anybody else outside my own small class; like, Bruce Wayne Porter who was a few years younger. I had no idea then who he was or the trouble he also endured throughout his school years. Bruce wrote the book I recently discovered: Life Isn’t Fair – A Survivor’s Story of War and Prejudice!

Base Oasis -affordable house w/regard to water sustainability

A-frame
How small do we have to go...to afford a house?!

I would like to build an affordable house, however small but not less than 1,000 square feet.

Somewhere in WA state, preferably in Spokane, WA (both the city of Spokane & Spokane County), or in nearby Lincoln County -where I would also like to start a (water) company, to help regenerate the Odessa Aquifer in Odessa, WA.

Preferably, on an inexpensive piece of property; like, an empty, small city lot, at the right price, of course!

With off-the-shelf materials, because a custom-made prefab house nowadays is unfortunately more than I can afford. And I don't want to go too small, because I'm tall like Bigfoot & might bang my head too many times on the rafters!

So, I've put together a virtual dream-book of ideas about my house, first, to help me formulate a plan of action & to understand what I currently like & really want to build, as part of my overall plan to start a company called Base Oasis, w/regard to water sustainability; with the initial transfer of (potable) water from the Columbia River to Lincoln County & seawater desalination from the Pacific Ocean, for the good of all concerned & to help save the planet!

FYI -all the products shown in my slide show are only my personal preferences & not from any paid sponsors.

Thanks & Enjoy! Just click the pdf link below, for a slide-show of some thoughtful (65) slides. Read one or more or all of them, to get some ideas w/regard to water conservation & future sustainability. And maybe plant a tree, or two or three...or hug a tree & wish good thoughts for you & me...or water a thirsty tree. Please & Thank-U!
